1. How delivery works here
Horsie is a multi-vendor marketplace. Each vendor packs and dispatches their own consignment, and each consignment carries its own delivery charge and its own tracking number. The delivery windows quoted below are total elapsed time from the moment you place the order: they include the vendor's handling time plus carrier transit.
Orders placed after 16:00 AST, or on a Friday or Saturday, begin handling on the next business day. Bahraini and Gulf business days run Sunday to Thursday.
2. Domestic Bahrain
Bahrain is our home market and the only one where we offer same-day dispatch. Orders placed before 12:00 AST on a business day, containing only items marked as in stock and shipped from a Bahraini vendor, are eligible for same-day delivery to Manama, Muharraq, Riffa, Isa Town, Hamad Town, Budaiya and the Amwaj Islands.
Standard delivery is free on any single-vendor consignment with a subtotal of BHD 20 or more; below that threshold a flat BHD 1.500 applies. Delivery to the Southern Governorate and to remote addresses in Sakhir or Al Areen may add one working day.
3. Saudi Arabia
Cross-border consignments to Saudi Arabia move by road through the King Fahd Causeway and are cleared at the Batha or Al-Batha customs point. Standard delivery reaches Riyadh, Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran and Jeddah within 5–8 days; secondary cities may take up to 10.
A valid Saudi national address or a mobile number registered with Absher is required for customs clearance. Without one, the consignment will be held at the border and we will contact you to collect the details.
4. United Arab Emirates
Consignments to the UAE travel by road through Saudi Arabia and clear at the Ghuwaifat border post. Standard delivery to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman takes 4–7 days; express takes 3–4. Deliveries to Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain may add a day.
An Emirates ID number or a valid passport number is required on the shipping label for customs purposes.
5. Rates and delivery windows
| Market | Method | Delivery window | Charge |

| Bahrain | Express | 1–2 days | BHD 2.000 |
| Bahrain | Same-day | Same day before 12:00 | BHD 3.000 |
| Saudi Arabia | Standard | 5–8 days | BHD 6.500 |

| All markets | Freight (over 25 kg) | BH 4–7 days · GCC 8–15 days | BH BHD 8.000 · GCC BHD 22.000 |
Charges are quoted in Bahraini dinars and converted at checkout into Saudi riyals or UAE dirhams at the prevailing rate. Charges apply per vendor consignment, not per basket.
6. Cross-border duties and taxes
Bahraini orders carry no customs duty; Bahrain's 10% VAT is applied to the goods and delivery value and shown in your basket total.
Orders crossing into Saudi Arabia or the UAE attract the GCC Common External Tariff of 5% on the CIF value — that is the goods plus insurance plus freight. Import VAT is then calculated on the CIF value plus the duty: 15% for Saudi Arabia and 5% for the UAE.
We collect these amounts at checkout and remit them on your behalf, so nothing is owed to the courier at your door. Horsie's checkout duty preview shows the CIF value, the 5% duty, the destination VAT and the total landed cost before you pay.
| Destination | Customs duty | VAT | VAT applied on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bahrain | None | 10% | Goods + delivery |
| Saudi Arabia | 5% GCC CET | 15% | CIF + duty |
| UAE | 5% GCC CET | 5% | CIF + duty |
Certain animal feeding stuffs and live-plant products attract a reduced or zero GCC duty rate. Where a product qualifies, the reduced rate is applied automatically at checkout and the difference is refunded.
7. Bulky items and freight
Consignments above 25 kg, or with any single dimension above 120 cm, move by freight rather than parcel carrier. This covers feed in 20 kg sacks, hay and shavings bales, stable mats, field fencing, large water troughs, jumps and horseboxes fittings.
Freight is kerbside only. The driver will not carry a pallet into a stable yard, up steps or through a gate. If you need inside delivery or a pallet truck, contact us before ordering and we will quote it separately.
8. Tracking your delivery
Every consignment receives a tracking number as soon as the vendor hands it to the carrier. You will find it on the order page, together with a timeline showing the handling, dispatch, customs and delivery stages. Cross-border consignments show two tracking numbers: our Gulf carrier reference and the destination courier reference once the shipment clears customs.
Tracking data can lag by up to 24 hours on cross-border shipments while a consignment sits in the customs queue. If the timeline has not moved for three working days, contact us and we will open a trace with the carrier.
9. Failed and refused deliveries
The carrier makes two delivery attempts. After the second failure the consignment is held at the local depot for five working days, during which you can reschedule or collect it in person. If it is not collected it returns to the vendor.
A returned consignment is refunded less the outbound delivery charge and any customs duty already paid to the destination authority, which cannot be recovered. Refusing a delivery at the door for a reason other than visible damage is treated the same way.
Perishable goods — live plants, chilled supplements and any feed with a short remaining shelf life — cannot be redirected or held. If delivery fails, the consignment is disposed of and refunded in full at our discretion, since it cannot be resold.
Delivery questions: support@horsie.bh or +973 3000 0000, Sunday to Thursday, 9:00–18:00. For a consignment stuck in customs, quote your order reference and the tracking number.
